The 13 chapters within the Great Lakes Region of the Construction Specifications Institute converged in Detroit April 11 - 13 for the Great Lakes Regional Conference.
The conference was made up of round table discussions as well as training for key board positions within CSI. Additionally, there were CEU courses running in parallel to the leadership training.
The Keynote speaker during lunch was Aaron Foley, author and Detroit's Chief Storyteller at Detroit Media and Planning. Aaron spoke about history, culture and grass-roots changes taking place in the city of Detroit.
The Keynote speaker during dinner was Rod Liggons, Community Relations Manager for the Detroit Landbank. The Detroit Landbank is the only such organization organized at the city level rather than the county level. Mr. Liggons' efforts are helping people become homeowners while cleaning up Detroit of abandoned houses.
